What belongs in a franchisee scorecard
19 January 2026
A practical list of fields that keep monthly reviews short and useful for both the brand owner and local operators.
A useful franchisee scorecard fits on two pages. If it needs a meeting just to explain the columns, the design has already failed.
Keep five core lines: net sales, labour percentage, food or merchandise cost percentage, customer complaint count, and one brand-specific quality check. Everything else belongs in an appendix for deeper audits.
Rank locations with the same rules every month. Changing the weighting mid-year makes year-to-date comparisons unreliable and invites arguments about fairness.
Share the scorecard with franchisees before the review call. Surprises in the room waste the hour; pre-shared numbers let the conversation focus on actions.
End each review with one agreed experiment for the following month — a schedule change, a supplier swap, or a local promotion — and record whether it moved the figure. That closes the loop between reporting and operations.
